Frank Lloyd Wright

I am reading Loving Frank and I am really enjoying it so far. The note above is from a conversation I read in the book this morning, about a grouping of images that Frank Wright purchased. It inspired me...

I am so excited to have my own place. When I do, I want to have a photo gallery. somewhere in my home. it will have a theme. either a place, groups of images, an special event; something really inspiring that makes your mind wander. just like Frank's collection. and I will change it out frequently. or just have multiple "galleries".

That is all. happy weekend :)

new season

I am in a new place. I am entering into a new season and I am joyful. I have been in a valley, a hard place, for the past 9 months, but the Lord has been so merciful and loving. My mom has breast and bone cancer. In August of 2007, she was told she was in the final stages and was given 3 weeks to live. She believes and trusts in the Lord with the strongest faith I have ever encountered. She is waiting and trusting for the Lord to heal her. And I am in agreement.

Being a witness to this pillar-like faith, day in day out, will change you. I am so thankful for my mother's faith and so grateful that the Lord has given me this opportunity to grow and expand in ways I never thought I could. Its amazing how he uses crappy situations to make us closer to Him. I pray for a billion more of these times. Even though they are hard, it is the most perfect place to be in (afterwards :). I can't imagine the world without my mother, but I trust and believe that he will heal her. I do. She is strong and faithful and it is because of Him. The Lord sustains and I will never be the same.

i am a believer :: NETI POT!!!!

:: that's right! i'm a believer!

quoted from the professionals, just like this little blonde demonstrating above:
"People practice Neti on a daily basis to help keep their sinuses clean and to make their breathing easier and more free. Once they try it, most people find Neti to be a soothing and pleasant experience."

how neti is done:: A neti pot is filled with warm, slightly salted water and the spout of the pot is inserted into one nostril. The position of the head and pot are adjusted to allow the water to flow out of the other nostril. The technique is not as uncomfortable or difficult as you may think. You will be pleasantly surprised at this simple and effective practice for maintaining your health.

Once learnt, neti can be done in about 3 minutes and is easily integrated into a daily routine of body cleansing such as showering or brushing your teeth!

My wedding cake.

I am getting married next January. My mother, Debra Diane, has her heart set on a Horned Frog cake for the groom's cake. She has researched and found the number to the baker who made this horrific cake above and asked if she can make a Horned Frog Cake.

U.G.L.Y. Please, help me. If you ever hear my mom talking about the Horned Frog cake (because most of you will), I beg of you, PLEASE tell her/act like/give negative body language/throw up when she suggests this as a good idea.

So, if my mother wins; if her enthusiasm for a Horned Frog cake is so overpowering that we end up with one of these and you come to my wedding and its there please, please don't take any pictures.

NGJ

Natalie Grace and Jennifer Lindsay.
We became friends at Pine Cove, in late junior high, but it wasn't until we were both going to TCU and had no one to room with and decided to be roommates, that we started our life long relationship.

Man, was it rough. Freshman year, first semester.
But don't worry, we passed the time by having dance parties in our dorm room (party of 2) and building forts out of boxes we found in the hall and pretending we were in a war. We would hide behind the boxes and then try to scare each other, but then just ended up turning the music back on and dancing on and around the box.

Natalie is a best friend to me. She is just like Jesus and encourages me to be more like him each time I see her. She is moving to California on Friday, which is horribly sad for me, but exciting for her!

Cut us some slack. All we wanted was a couple of friends...Freshman Year at TCU.

GO FROGS!

Natalie has been there through this whole blessed event of Scott and I. Nat, thank you for loving me still (even after all the dorm fiascos). :)

We are getting a little cuter...(hopefully) Its Senior Year!

Current photograph of my beautiful friend.

Love you Nat. I will miss you so much. Can't wait to come see your new city!!

This is no longer a blog just for Abby and I's travels. Since Abby doesn't write on the blog, I figured I could turn it into my own personal blog as well. Abby will (hopefully) write too :)

Buena Vista, Colorado

We flew up on a Thursday and back on a Sunday. We love you Julie Ann!!!

Noteworthy things about BV:
  • In 2005, Outside Magazine named Buena Vista one of "The Best Towns in the U.S." and a "New American Dream Town"
  • The name "Buena Vista," Spanish for "Beautiful View," can often be heard pronounced locally as "Byoona Vista."
  • Julie Ann Brandenberger lives there.
  • There is a Subway.
  • Oklahoma country music singer and songwriter Jeremy Castle released a song entitled "A Little Bit Like Heaven" in 2004, which celebrates beauty of the town of Buena Vista, Colorado
  • It is known as the Banana Belt. But there aren't any bananas.

Abby and I visited JuJu Bean in February 2008 (this year). We saw her lovely home, pictured above.
When you flush the toilet, the sink gurggles. They don't lock their doors in BV. Not even at night. crazy chickens.

We skied, boarded, cooked meals, drank coffee, stayed up late talking and got to see the beautiful sunshine and snow for 3 days.

I got the flu. Chris was sick too. What a shame...
