Advent

I did not grow up celebrating Advent. I have, however, always had a special interest in the church traditions even though I did not practice them. So, this year, Scott and I are partaking in the Advent season, each day. I am blessed that my boyfriend did grow up and learn such traditions, it is so attractive to me.

We have started reading the devotional our church provided and I really love this sentiment/reason/thought on Advent:

In His coming is our joy, for He is our treasure, our greatest good.

elle decor november 2011 issue

I'd love for my home to be a mix between traditional and transitional. Decorative trims with sleek tufted sofa lines. Intricate arm carvings with light, crisp walls.

I thought Richard Saja's creativity with toiles was inspring!

love the shoes, especially. Here is his blog.

ALWAYS love Madeline Weinrib's patterns, colors and ideas.

Ochre. Design Love. This new fixture is gorgina!

My sweet friend Melanie gave me a Michael Aram piece as a housewarming gift last year. These new holiday candles are beaufitul! Good Christmas gift....

you and i by ingrid.

this song popped up on my ipod today.
it always, in an instant, reminds me of our rehearsal dinner.
it was on the playlist scott made for the evening, and i love the memory.
my favorite verse, or maybe chorus, goes like this:
"oh let's get rich and buy our parents homes in the south of france, let's get rich and give everybody nice sweaters and teach them how to dance, let's get rich and build our house on a mountain makin' everybody look like ants.
from way up there you and i, you and i."

Martha Stewart...can I be you?

I said this last year, but if I could take off for about 6 weeks, starting the week before Thanksgiving, I could make myself very busy with holiday decor, baking, parties and presents!

My favorite image is the last one. Reminds me of Avant Garden.

The second image is for Abby, Dahlias!
