Day 2

Day 2 & 3

Day 2 was filed with Cinque Terre's hiking. It was a many many hour hike surrounded by Italy's mountains, the Mediterranean Sea, vineyards, many different languages, and surprisingly little sun. Naturally when we approached the man-made sign of a nudist lake, Woods begged us to go! So we did. Let's just say what happens in Italy, stays in Italy. But this hike down to the beach was very very steep going down, so naturally, going up was just as difficult. Surprisingly we are not sore today...but we ended the evening sunset eating pastas, sharing wine, and window shopping right on the coast. It was beautiful and we laughed SO much.

On Day 3,  Woods was shipped back to Madrid, so we already miss her. Tomorrow, Tori, Scotty and I head to Switzerland for a day or two. Life is rough. Here are some unedited pics to share!

Ciao!

Day 1

Ciao from Italy! These pics are from Lago Maggiore, Italy. I arrived at 8 AM and was greeted by Tori, Woods, and Scott. They attempted to keep me up and site see through a few little towns surrounded by Lago Maggiore. It worked for a few hours, but after that was nap time. That is how we sleep here at Scott's place.

I have little time to post, but wanted to get some out there. Forgive me that they are not edited either. Ciao!

abby's current location.

i am thinking, since abby is hiking and laughing and drinking wine and exploring this wonderful place called cinque terra, she might not have time to post pictures herself.

she is here. for a couple of days. and for a couple of days, i am jealous.
but happy for her :)

quick!

quick...abby!

get to europe!

blog away my sadness with your fun times!!

its hard

its hard to be strong all the time.

can i be brutally honest?

its hard to try to forget about not having a mom.

its hard to try to forget about her last 6 months of life.

its hard to try to figure out how i made it through those hospital nights. let alone the rest of my family.

its hard to try to be okay without her.

tonight is one of those hard nights...

google reader.

how many subscriptions are too many subscriptions?

whoops.

I just bought these on Etsy.... my first Etsy purchase!

happy changes

so, living with a boy is different. different than living with four girls. don't get me wrong, it is really fun, but i have never lived with a boy before....some examples of a few things that change would be:
(1) pre-husband, i would buy 1 milk carton every three weeks or so. now, we go through a carton of milk in one week.
(2) on a typical night pre-husband, i would watch dancing with the stars and then fall asleep to bridget jones' diary or america's next top model. last night we watched valkyrie and then a basketball game while falling asleep.
(3) towels. scott only uses his towel 2 times before putting it in the hamper. is it gross that i used mine for a whole week?
(4) food in general. i noticed i have been eating a lot more now that Scott is around, and eating later and later into the night. boys consume more calories than girls, but does getting married mean the girl has to eat as much as the boy now? my jeans are tight.
(5) good morning america. i like it. scott likes the t0day show, or good day texas, or whatever that silly show is...sometimes he watches that in one room, while i watch GMA in the other...hah

i could go on, but i won't. i know you are thanking me for that.
getting married is fun!

bed and bath

yo te quiero.
i have always wanted a four poster bed, but scott says he doesn't like them. how can i convince him they are beautiful and practical and beautiful? the bed pairs well with the bathroom; i love the simplicity in the natural finishes and the clean lines.

Let the countdown begin!

In 2005, Lindsay, Julie and I went to visit Brittany, in Italy. She was studying abroad. We spent a little over a week trudging through the big cities eating gelato, panini's, and once, got a little boozed on liters of wine. Oh, and this happened on an over night train from Rome to Venice. Bad idea, because we forgot that we had to get off and change trains. We ended up sleeping like sardines with a "cop" from Venice in a room on the train. It was crazy. The next morning, we find ourselves exhausted from arriving really late, barely sleeping, drinking wine, and then thinking we could walk through the entire city of Rome. Maybe Lindsay will share more on that story...

Anyways, I am rummaging through our cd titled "Italy" that we stored away several years ago. It's full of pictures and I know somewhere around here, we have video footage. I bring all this out because Scott, one of my best friends has been living there since August. Tori, another one of my most dear, left two days ago to bop around for two months..possibly working on a farm? Well, I'm headed there a week from tomorrow and I'm so excited.

I've decided I will blog while I'm there. Or I'll do my best. I don't own a personal laptop anymore, therefore it might be difficult. I plan to eat gelato 1-2 times per day, wine it up every night, indulge in pizza, paninis, and pasta. Maybe I'll get some Italian down..but above anything, I hope to laugh and see the beautiful parts of Italy...that I wasn't able to see before!!

I owe my trip to my grandparents who sacrificially gifted their AA miles for my Italy trip and to Scotty, who has an apartment and car, so I can finance this trip into my social work budget. I'm more than excited and can't wait to be greeted by Tori and Scott next week in Milan!!!

Here are some pics of 2005 - My most wonderful friends, I love these memories with you. And I love you each, so deeply.

sun shortage

it has been a dreary two weeks. remember that summer, 2 summers ago, when it rained all season? if that happens again i might move. i am in need of a happy summer. with sun.

while i wait for the sun to come back, i am dreaming of pool water, dibble dabble, then sitting in the shade to read a good book.....

Elizabeth & The Catapult

If you are eerie on buying entire cds, well I encourage you to reconsider. My citicard usually feels the blows of the easy iTunes click, but the past two months have been s-l-o-w. Music is my therapy. As much as I'd like to think my library is vast, I'd say it's not. I have a thing for chick music that's fun, up beat, calm or funky - sweet. Thanks to iTunes, I came across this fun band yesterday. Check out their myspace, but I recommend the whole cd.

Fun, funky & refreshing.
Today, Jennifer Lindsay Schardt turns 25!!!! An email went around today signifying our favorites of Lindsay from her girlfriends. Feel free to comment and say how she has changed your life for the better. We love her & are proud of the strength she shows from this very bittersweet year. From loss to gain, pain to a commitment in love, Lindsay is steadfast in her faith - to her God, her family, and her friends.

On top of that, she is headed to Scott's graduation....to bring him H-O-M-E to REALLY start daily life together. No more goodbyes but sweet committed love, and we all delight upon his return.

luxuryculture.com

i really enjoy this website. it has "now, now" (as Scott would say) information on design, fashion, art, city guides, hotels.

Rachna Joshi Nair's definition of luxury:
enjoying the moment. the enjoyment of the present is incredibly difficult to achieve, it cannot be bought but it can be learned.

love this kitchen.

i love black and white with a pop of color. i love the black and white striped rug, i love all the natural light, the chair rail and arched doorway. i love the thick, white trim around the doors and windows...

having my own house will be fun :)
i'm so glad i have that to look forward to!
