Buena Vista, Colorado

We flew up on a Thursday and back on a Sunday. We love you Julie Ann!!!

Noteworthy things about BV: 

• In 2005, Outside Magazine named Buena Vista one of "The Best Towns in the U.S." and a "New American Dream Town"
• The name "Buena Vista," Spanish for "Beautiful View," can often be heard pronounced locally as "Byoona Vista."
  
• Julie Ann Brandenberger lives there.
• There is a Subway.
• Oklahoma country music singer and songwriter Jeremy Castle released a song entitled "A Little Bit Like Heaven" in 2004, which celebrates beauty of the town of Buena Vista, Colorado
  
• It is known as the Banana Belt. But there aren't any bananas.

Abby and I visited JuJu Bean in February 2008 (this year). We saw her lovely home, pictured above.

When you flush the toilet, the sink gurggles. They don't lock their doors in BV. Not even at night. crazy chickens.

We skied, boarded, cooked meals, drank coffee, stayed up late talking and got to see the beautiful sunshine and snow for 3 days. 

I got the flu. Chris was sick too. What a shame...

Waikiki Beach.

Wai·ki·ki A famous beach and resort district of Oahu Island, Hawaii, southeast of Honolulu. It is known for its fine surfing conditions.

I had to work. Abby had some vacation days. She'd never been to Hawaii. So she came with me!

I was working on the renovation of the Moana Surfrider and had to work during business hours. So Abby laid by the pool.

We had the weekend free. So we rented the "blue smurf", see photo, and drove around the entire island. It was one of the best days of my life!

Abby is the best person to travel with because she is so laid back. We ate when we were hungry, pulled over and bought jewelery at a random stand, ate some pineapple, took pictures alllll day long anywhere we could stop, climbed rocks, got in the ocean, took a nap on the beach, thanked the Lord for the beautiful Hawaiian mountains, watched the surfers and the sunset, and had a cocktail at the end of the day. It was perfect!

We are the 2 of our friends that have the easiest time picking up and heading out. We share that quality and the fact that we aren't tied down to our busy lives and thrive on getting away from it all....
